The signal event of today's (March 10, 2019) tour was listed as the Akwasidae Festival at the Royal Palace. The Ashanti king is supposed to preside, and other royals, elders, and advisers are in attendance. In fact, today the king had to be elsewhere, but one of the chiefs presided, flanked by the queen mother and an advisor, covered by ceremonial umbrellas.
The chief was a very pleasant, sophisticated man. He spoke excellent English and had been educated in Amsterdam.
