Weathered Walls of Monchique

From Évora we drove to Monchique, a historic town in the Algarve, in the southern mountains of Portugal. It's famous as a vacation spot (though we arrived a bit after the season) and for the production of cork, honey, and other good things. It also was in the news for a week of fires in the surrounding forests in early August 2018, that fortunately were extinguished without loss of life.

As we walked the steep hills and winding streets of the town, I was particularly drawn to its colorful, weathered walls, which put me in mind of Abstract Expressionist paintings. Here are a couple of examples.
