Evening at Ayers Rock

Yesterday (April 23) we flew from Adelaide to Alice Springs and thence to Ayers Rock, a small town in the Northern Territory that is home to the famous rock (official name Uluru).

We checked into the pleasant Desert Gardens Hotel, part of the Ayers Rock Resort complex.

Dinner was an outdoor barbecue affair in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, under exciting skies

with the featured event being an experience of the Field of Light, an illumination of part of the park with 50,000 color-changing LED bulbs connected by miles of fiber optic cables. We were underwhelmed by the experience, which was hard to photograph effectively, but here are a couple of attempts.

However, the evening's conversation with fellow vacationers at our table was very pleasant.
