We drove with a guide to the Douro Valley, where many of the vineyards and wineries (quintas) that produce Portugal's famous port wine (and many other wines as well) are located. We visited, and were given a nice tour of, the Quinta do Tedo.
The walls of the railway station had fine tiles celebrating the wine making
and also commemorating the explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who was born nearby.
