New Island, Falklands

New Island is at the extreme west of the Falkland Archipelago. We arrived there, having steamed from February 28 from Ushuaia, in the morning of March 1, and made wet zodiac landings in groups of about 8. This first group of photos shows the terrain near where we landed, as we began our hike to the bird rookeries at the other side of the island.

Tracks of Land Rover used to ferry visitors up the hill to the east side of the island. (We hiked.)
