Ediz Hook

According to Wikipedia, "Ediz Hook is a 3-mile-long sand spit that extends from northern shore of the Olympic Peninsula at Port Angeles in northcentral Clallam County, Washington, USA, northeasterly into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, located about 15-mile west of the larger Dungeness Spit." The shipping harbor of Port Angeles lies at the base of the spit, and (as the last photo shows) the harbor pilots set out from here to board the container vessels that they will guide into port.

The weather, which up to now had been bright and sunny, turned rainy and foggy, which enhanced the atmosphere of the Hook and nearly obscured the container ship in the third photo.
