Bastille Day in the Pearl District

Back to Portland in this blog, after our brief vacation in the Olympic Peninsula. We live near Jamison Square in the Pearl District, and on July 13 were pleasantly surprised to see a Bastille Day celebration taking place in the park. (Surprised both because Bastille Day is July 14, and because the Pearl District is not notably French.) However, it was a delightful event, and I got some photos that capture the occasion, which I'll post over the next few days.

Jamison Square is one of a north-south string of parks in the Pearl, and its distinguishing feature is a fountain intended to simulate a shallow tide pool. Kids and some adults were having fun splashing and cooling off on a warm day, while others just relaxed and watched the fun.
