The Great Giza Pyramids and Sphinx

Back in Giza/Cairo by afternoon on this day 3 (October 11) of our tour, we paid the obligatory visit to the Great Pyramids and Sphinx. These things really are huge, as I've tried to convey by "small" details in the first two photos.

Some of the camels waiting for their owners to be successful in attracting tourists to take rides - not so successfully while we were there.

The Sphinx, shown in its milieu rather than in isolation as in most photos.

120 foot long wooden boat, discovered only in 1954, speculated to be for the transport of the Pharaoh's soul to the afterlife.

Evening back at our Mena House hotel, looking over the grounds toward the Great Pyramids. There were three(!) wedding parties scheduled that evening, blasting loud music until late in the evening toward our rooms - which were specially desirable since they faced the Pyramids :-(  Unfortunately, our group had to get up VERY early the next morning to fly to Luxor, so we were not a happy group.
