The Pain of Coventry Cathedral

These two photos seem to go together, not just for the green and black color schemes, but also for their emotional connection. The upper one is a view of part of Graham Sutherland's huge tapestry behind the altar of the new Canterbury Cathedral, seen through a foreground of a sculpture of huge thorns built on the choir stalls. The lower photo is of an accordion player in the park outside the cathedral. The sad expression on his face seems related to the pain of Jesus and the crown of thorns.
