Our next-to-last visit to islands in the South Pacific was to Manihi, in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia. They told us that it had been seven years (!} since the last visiting cruise ship, so they were really energized to celebrate our arrival. It seemed as if the whole community was prepared to greet us, but particularly noteworthy were the young girls who had clearly practiced their dance moves.
