Paul Gauguin on Hiva Oa

Hiva Oa is the largest of the southern islands in the French Marquesas. It is best known for being the place where the painter Paul Gauguin fled French civilization, lived and painted a tropical life among the natives, and is buried. There is a large Cultural Center where duplicates of many of his self-portraits and other paintings are displayed.
