On October 13 we had a long drive from Yazd to Shiraz. I've broken this up into two postings, this one from Yazd to an ancient ice house.

Rest stop on the road
Two views of the interior of an old ice house, used for refrigeration of food by the local community. Thick walls, small windows, and packing with straw and ice kept food from spoiling during the hot months of the year.
