The REI store in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon put up plywood sheets to guard (successfully) against vandalism. The panels did serve, however, as a base for mural painting. One artist seems to have had the panels pretty much to herself on the two days I passed by, and did some good work; but I think there were a couple of others who contributed.
