Construction Workers in the Pearl

Portland's Pearl District used to be mainly factories and warehouses, near the Willamette River. During the last several decades, it has been transformed into trendy shops, galleries, condos, and apartment buildings. Recently the pace of redevelopment has quickened, and there are big building or remodeling projects every few blocks, accompanied by sidewalk and street closures. Here are some photos of the workers who are making these things happen.
