Urbino

Back to Italy for our last couple of days on the Rome to Ravenna tour. This is Urbino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the star attraction is the architecture and art of the Palazzo Ducale, "the Pearl of the Renaissance". The emergence of humanism, after the rigidities of the Middle Ages, is striking here. See my post of April 27 for some additional photos of Urbino and the Palazzo.

Interesting contrast between the exterior of the Renaissance Palazzo Ducale and the pile of medieval houses, which at the same time remind us of Cezanne and Cubism.
