Najaf is the site of Ezekiel's tomb, but it's otherwise a fairly up-to-date city, with some surprisingly liberated graffiti as well as a commanding portrait of Muqtada-al-Sadr, the leader of the Shiites in Iraq. And a shiny cafe.
