San Francisco Murals near 24th and Mission

On the third day of Peter Turnley's street photography workshop, I undertook to photograph some of the murals near the 24th and Mission BART station in the Mission District. The activist mural movement appears to have started in Balmy Alley, and the whole neighborhood is now full of striking public art. For the next few days I'll be posting my photos of that art. Today's are from Lucky Alley, near Balmy.

When possible, I tried to include people from the neighborhood. Most were obliging.

This fellow was painting over existing murals, perhaps preparatory to painting new ones.
