This post contains more than two dozen photos, mainly to try to capture some of the extent and diversity of the Cultural Show. All were taken in the first hour or two, before the competition, when the tribes were just coming out. (We left early to catch a plane to Port Moresby, since we had already seen a dozen of the tribes performing at Rondon Ridge, under much better viewing circumstances.)
I tried to portray some of the color and intensity of the event and competitors, as well as the environment of spectators and advertising banners on the hills surrounding the field. It was a remarkable experience.

There were some attractive posters pinned to the fence separating the field from the spectators. I wish that there had been a book collecting them.
A sky-diving exploit over the field. The two parachuters jumped from the same plane, the one on the right initially carrying the Papua New Guinea flag, which was transferred to the one on the left just as they neared the ground.
