MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) is probably (and deservedly) the best-known art museum in Buenos Aires. Established in 2001, it has a large and excellent collection of 20th C art from all the countries of Latin America, and hosts important special exhibitions as well. When we were there, the feature was Mexican revolutionary art, especially the muralists Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueros, and Jose Clemente Orozo. I was struck by the similarity (except in medium and scale) between a self-portrait by Siqueros and a contemporary selfie.
