We flew from Buenos Aires to the El Calafate airport in Patagonia, where we were picked up and driven to El Chalten, the trekking capital of Patagonia. Although we're by no means world-class trekkers, it has long been on our bucket list to experience first-hand the amazing scenery of this part of the world. The visuals started immediately on our drive, with turquoise-colored Lago Argentina in the foreground and the cloud-summited Fitz Roy mountain range, that defines and dominates this region, in the background. The third photo, taken from the entrance to Glacier National Park, shows El Chalten at the foot of the mountains. As the afternoon progressed, the clouds seemed to concentrate and almost solidify into well-defined shapes. The last three photos show the view, from the prime couch in the lounge of our hotel, of the remarkable clouds as the evening darkens.
