Despite the almost complete cover with volcanic rock only a decade ago, Fogo residents have reestablished their homes (see settlement in the distance at the base of the mountain) and resumed growing grapes.

Fogo's name goes back to the volcanic activity of its dominant feature Pico do Fogo (below) ... which last erupted in 2014-15 and still today emits Sulfur vapor through its fumaroles."

Dakar Museum of Black Civilizations

After the Ousmane Sow museum/home, we went to Dakar's Museum of the Black Civilizations, probably the most important museum in Africa for a broad coverage of African cultures .
