A lot of the fish in Oregon's restaurants and grocery stores comes from Newport, so there are lots of fishing vessels, commercial and charter, in the harbor.

 There's lots of fish in the waters around Newport, the port city on the central Oregon coast, but not many sea lion-worthy rocks, so the sea lions use the piers and platforms that have been erected for them in the harbor. They draw a lot of spectators. This is the first of two posts.

Two Views at Salishan Lodge

The rooms at Salishan Coastal Lodge are situated among the trees on the hilly grounds. Some are connected by roofed, elevated walkways. I was interested to compare the pictorial possibilities of horizontal and vertical views of this scene.

Little Creek Cove, the hotel near Newport where we stayed for the first few days of our visit to the Oregon Coast, faced onto a fine sandy beach with interesting topography. It looked good in black and white, as modified by time and tide.
