Nefertari was the favorite queen of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II, about 3200 years ago. Her tomb, in the Valley of the Queens in Luxor (the former Thebes), is perhaps the most ornate and beautiful in the entire Luxor complex (more on that in the next several days). The beauty of the painting, and the connection between the queen and the Egyptian gods depicted on the walls, has led people to call Nefertari's tomb the Egyptian Sistine Chapel.
