Lisbon's grand Avenida da Liberdade runs roughly south from Marques de Pombal Square down to the waterfront at the Praca do Comercio. Just a couple of blocks to the east, the streets become very narrow and steep, rising eventually up to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. These steep neighborhoods are where ordinary people and students live and work - and these days, around the world, working class neighborhoods are often decorated with graffiti. Most are nothing special, but I encountered a couple of works of street art that definitely command attention.
