At the end of February we embarked on a cruise across the sub-Antarctic waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, from Ushuaia, Argentina to Cape Town, South Africa. To begin we flew from our home city of Portland, Oregon to Santiago, Chile. These photos show views from the window of our hotel room (and the last, the lobby of our hotel), emphasizing the geometry of new buildings in Santiago and the placement of the city in a broad, flat valley between steep mountains.
