On the last day (February 13) of our Road Scholar "Hiking the High Desert" program we went to the Mecca Hills Wilderness Area. There are two main hikes there, Painted Canyon and Ladder Canyon. I took the supposedly easier one and more photogenic one, Painted Canyon. The next week of blog postings will show photos from there, emphasizing the intensely structured rock walls.
