On October 20, the day after our arrival in Tunisia, our guide took on us an ambitious - but interesting and well-paced - tour of four places within a few hours drive of Tunis. The first was the Berber village of Takrouna, perched on a hilltop overlooking a fertile plain full of olive trees. We were received by a Berber woman who explained some of the history and contemporary life of the village.
