Mono River

After our visit to Ouidah, and lunch back at the hotel, we took a boat ride on the Mono River which, as it flows south into the Gulf of Guinea, forms the international boundary between Togo and Benin. Our boat (not shown in these pictures) had a canvas canopy, but since the Mono is a tidal river and high tide occurred during the afternoon, the water level became too high for us to pass under one of pedestrian bridges across the river. The canopy had to be removed (the boat owner was prepared with a rusty wrench) for us to proceed.
