The Eastern Orthodox Monastery of Saint Naum (Cveti Naum), named after the medieval monk who founded it, lies in a beautiful site along the shores of Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. It has some striking old frescoes, including some spooky ones in which the painted eyes of the saints are scratched out. In the bottom picture, our guide stands in front of the ornately beautiful iconostasis, explaining some of the history and symbolism of the monastery.
