On the outskirts of Sapporo (sister city to Portland), on a former waste disposal site, is a large park designed by the 20th C Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi. It has a steep hill (presumably solid waste fill, but now green) which presents a challenging climb (which we didn't take), a large glass pyramid, a fountain, and lots of greenery for picnicking. The pyramid was filled with old turntables and a yellow tent for some sort of special event, and the base was periodically bathed in fog.
