January 30, 2017: We were stranded most of the morning. Our ship had run aground on an underwater sand bar which had shifted overnight.
Our tour leader, Prakash, filled the time by showing us how to tie turbans and dhotis.
A dredging ship coming to push/pull us off the sand bar.

Village celebration on the ghat, with lively music
Once we were able to move, we sailed downstream and went ashore to the very large, colorful market at Monghyr. I will post more photos from the market later.

Birds, rabbits, and guinea pigs sold as pets
An impromptu environmental portrait
In the early evening we went to the Sita Kund (hot spring) temple. We were near the river, but sand bars and the dark evening made it difficult for the country boat to pick us up.
