Castro Street Characters

A main street in Castro has a succession of interesting carved wooden characters, whom I assume hold some places in the legendary history of the place.

Castro Wooden Church

 A striking church made of local Chilean hardwood, probably cedar. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Palafitos of Castro

 Castro, the capital of Chiloe Island, is a charming town. The waterfront is bordered by colorful houses on stilts, called palafitos.

Chiloe National Park

 A day on Chiloe Island began with docking in Castro and then a visit to Chiloe National Park.

A day at sea in the Chilean fjords

 Nothing much to do except admire the scenery and the dramatic skies.
