Fall Colors (Last Fall)

As a break from black and white photos in Portland's Pearl District, I want to show some photos of fall colors in Portland's Forest Park. Fall hasn't quite come yet, so these are pictures from last October that I didn't get a chance to post on this blog.

Artists in the Pearl

I enjoyed listening to these folksingers on the Songwriters Stage at the Art in the Park festival in Portland. And I've often been intrigued by this paper artist who sits nearly every day in Powell's City of Books coffee shop, turning paper napkins into flowers. He was featured not so long ago on Oregon Public Broadcast's "Art Beat" TV program.

Foodie Facility

An important part of Portland's image is as a foodie heaven. We have many excellent restaurants and farmers markets. But how does an aspiring restauranteur get started? One excellent way is by using KitchenCru, "a shared use community kitchen and culinary incubator". A couple of reviews say
"Very cool commercial kitchen space hosting upstarts & pop up restaurants." and "Exemplary commercial kitchen space for the culinary professional". It's located near the south end of the Pearl District, where I took a couple of photos through the windows.

Waiting for the Bus

The Bolt Bus goes between Portland and Seattle. It's a cheap and convenient way to go, and the waiting area is pleasant - so long as it isn't raining. But the unloading is a little chaotic.

Art in the Pearl

The set-up preparations being over, Art in the Pearl officially commenced Saturday. Big crowds of people enjoying themselves, inspecting the art, and even occasionally buying something. Here are some photos.
