Our small but elegant cruise ship, the Silverseas' Silver Cloud, had just returned from the Antarctic Peninsula and was being readied for this next phase of its journey. To occupy us before boarding in the afternoon, we had a tour, with well-wined barbecue lunch, of the rugged territory above Ushuaia. Very reminiscent of Alaska, but with caracaras (3rd photo) rather than ravens or eagles. Because it was late summer/early fall in the southern hemisphere, the sled dogs had no snow to play in.
