The proprietor of our B&B in Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula told us that the area considers itself the lavender capitol of the USA, thanks to favorable soil and climate plus considerable hard work and promotion. In fact, the annual Lavender Festival was going to happen in just a few days. Unfortunately, unusual weather had delayed the harvest, and we were able to locate only one farm with extensive blooming fields in our (not very thorough) drive around Sequim. Once we found it, however, it was an enjoyable visit.
