For the past several months I've been working on a project to photograph every block in the Pearl District in Portland in black and white. This project has mainly been inspired by the books "American Photographs" by Walker Evans and "The Americans" by Robert Frank. But yesterday, as I photographed just a couple of blocks from our home, I found myself attracted to scenes that recalled Eugene Atget's photos of Paris. Here are three.
