Photography in the High Desert

I returned a couple of days ago from a wonderful Road Scholar program: "Hiking the High Desert: Joshua Tree National Park" focused on the area around Palm Springs, California. For the next month or so I'll be posting photos from this remarkable place.

Our first trip was indeed to Joshua Tree National Park, to give us a taste of the centerpiece of the high desert and the peculiar plant (a yucca, not a tree) that gives the park its name.

Surprising Patches of Color

Wandering around San Miguel de Allende, one constantly runs into surprising patches of color. Here are three examples.

Cuesta de San Jose

The street leading up to our B&B in San Miguel de Allende, Cuesta de San Jose, has some rag-tag, colorful scenes. They give the area some of the visual character that I like so much.

Instituto Allende Murals

The Instituto Allende is an art school in San Miguel de Allende, with some striking murals in the public areas. Here are some examples, starting with scenes from Mexican history.
