 Like most of the other South Pacific islands, Fatu Hiva greets tour ship visitors with an attractive craft market.

Fatu Hiva Welcomes

Fatu Hiva, an island in the Marquesas Group in French Polynesia, is the southernmost and most remote island in that group. The village of Omoa has a striking harbor, with totemic statues and rugged breakwater, and a welcoming population.

At Sea in French Polynesia

It's a long distance between islands in the South Pacific, so we spent April 5 and 6 at sea. Here are a couple of photos that I found interesting, though quite different.

 Way up the Mangareva mountain-side, far from the temptations of the harbor, lie the ruins of an old cloister.
