Illulissat, "The Birthplace of Icebergs"

 On August 23, our last day at sea, we anchored in the harbor at Illulissat, to board small boats to motor among the astonishingly large and plentiful icebergs. In fact, "illulissat" means "icebergs" in the Kalaallisut language.

Qeqertqruaq, Greenland Buildings

From Upernavik we  steamed overnight and the next morning to Qeqertqruaq, another rural town where we had a few hours to walk around and take in the scenery. The buildings are, as usual, plain and brightly colored, but attractively set in open spaces.
