Wonderland of Rocks

The Wonderland of Rocks in Joshua Tree National Park is an intricate maze of rocks and cactus, requiring careful wayfinding, clambering and balancing, and avoiding cactus spines. I was not totally successful on the last count, but a kind fellow traveler with tweezers and good eyesight removed the cholla spines (tiny but insidious) from my leg.

The Hand (and Wheels) of Man on Joshua Tree National Park

The first two are remnants of mining or farming activities from before designation as a National Park. As historical remnants, older than 50 years, they cannot be removed. The third just looked so nice and shiny in the parking lot.
