Michelangelo's David

Perhaps the greatest single tourist attraction in Florence is Michelangelo's colossal statue of David, housed in the Galleria dell'Accademia.

The hallway is lined with Michelangelo's unfinished "Prisoners" statues.

An adjacent room houses the "Gipsoteca Bartolini", a collection of plaster casts made by a 19th C sculptor and professor at the Accademia.

Florence's Duomo

The Duomo (Cathedral) of Florence is one of the world's great buildings, historically and aesthetically.

Photos inside the Duomo are prohibited, but here's one anyhow,
featuring one of the Medicis on horseback.

Tourist Trinkets

Florence (like much of the rest of Italy) relies heavily on tourism. Tempting trinkets and more useful goods, in all price ranges, are on display in kiosks and shop windows everywhere that tourists congregate.

Piazza della Repubblica in Florence

In the Apple Store at the edge of the Piazza della Republicca, waiting to get a cell phone battery recharged. The walls were decorated with big slides (presumably taken with iPhones) of world capitol cities.
