Now for a change from the dark and sometimes gloomy monochrome of Astoria.
The Alberta Arts District along Alberta Street in Northwest Portland, Oregon is full of lively restaurants and drinking establishments, along with vivid murals. The murals may not have the political edge of those in San Francisco's Mission District, but they're often complex and thoughtful, usually whimsical, and always lively. For the next week I'll be posting photos from Alberta Street, taken just before Halloween on a walk-around with a friend.
