Yerevan to Sisian

June 15: We drove from Yerevan to Sisian on our way to Nagorno-Karabakh. The country was mountainous, both green and rocky, and quite beautiful.

First stop was the Areni Winery, a pioneer in high-quality wine production in the Vayats Dzor region of Armenia. Here are bottles aging in the cellar.

A young woman served us samples, some of them from 1998-2000.

Noravank Monastery, cultural and spiritual center of the Syounik region since the 13th C.

We visited the Sisian Art School where they were mounting an exhibition of student work.
