Scenes in Armenia

June 8, 2016: Today was our second day in Armenia, a country distinguished by many monasteries and much beautiful scenery, but unfortunately rather little in terms of economic prosperity.

The Debet River in front of our hotel in Dzoraget. The river has cut a deep gorge in the surrounding plateau.

The indoor swimming pool at our hotel

Poppies on a hill overlooking the deep gorge of the Debet River

The priest of a 13th C (but nicely restored) monastery in the Lori Valley, talking with a parishioner

The priest singing a sacred song

Wildflowers in an abandoned fort
