Aspects of Life in Belfast

March 15, 2016: A few more photos illustrating some of the fraught aspects of life in Belfast.

A relatively prosperous, suburban-like Protestant neighborhood.
The Catholic neighborhoods didn't look so good.

Courthouse where many cases of "terrorism" were tried. It's now abandoned.

Across the street, the jail where prisoners were held. It's now a museum.

The high fence protects from attack from the road.
The screen along the back of the flats protects from firebombs thrown over the fence.

Along a major street in the Catholic part of Belfast, a series of murals
expressing solidarity with other victims of colonialist oppression.
